What is craft-anything?
craft-anything is a tool for studying how any website, app or game works and then having an AI coding agent build your own version of it. Inspection tools examine the original, a coding agent builds a new project from what they find, and the build is checked against the original and refined. The engine is written in Rust.

Key features of craft-anything
- Craft Anything studies websites, desktop apps, phone apps, games and files with inspection tools and shows the evidence behind each answer.
- A coding agent builds a new project in the language, framework or engine that you name.
- Each build is compared with the original and refined until it is close.
- Clean room mode works only from what a visitor can see, while Deep mode uses every tool for private use.
- Every tool is also a CLI command and an MCP tool, so agents can run the engine without the app.
How storytold/craft-anything works
Input enters through the command line in apps/craft-anything-cli/src/main.rs or the desktop app in apps/craft-anything/src/main.rs, where you give a target and describe what you want. The study step uses inspection tools from the crates directory, including crates/engine/src/tools/website_tools.rs, which holds the website tools. The crates/ai/src/lib.rs file drives the coding agent, and crates/ai/src/rebuild/kinds/app.rs contains the rebuild logic for app targets. The output is a new project folder that is compared with the original, with a list of what still does not match.
The codebase has 471 files and 17,632 symbols in 6 modules, led by Rust, Shell and Java. Code health is 6.8 out of 10, rated fair.

What is Craft Anything?
Craft Anything is a tool that studies how a website, app or game works and then has a coding agent build your own version. It uses inspection tools to examine the original and the evidence behind its findings. It is written in Rust.
How does Craft Anything work?
Craft Anything runs four steps: Study the original, Build a new project with a coding agent, Check the build against the original, and Ready the result to open or refine. Each check reports how alike the build is to the original.
How do I install Craft Anything?
Install the command line tool with cargo install --path apps/craft-anything-cli, then run craft-anything-cli doctor to check the install, coding agents and engines. The desktop app starts with cargo run --release -p craft-anything.
What language is Craft Anything written in?
Craft Anything is written mainly in Rust. Smaller parts are written in shell, Java, Python and Swift.
How is the Craft Anything code organized?
The crates directory holds most of the code. The apps directory holds the desktop app, the command line tool and the web app entry points, while examples and packaging hold example and packaging files.
When should I use Craft Anything?
Use Craft Anything to study how a website, app or game works and to have an AI coding agent build your own version of it. Clean room mode works only from what a visitor can see, and Deep mode is for your private use.
What license does Craft Anything use?
Craft Anything is licensed under Apache-2.0.

About this page
Get a page like this for your own codebase
Repowise built this map of storytold/craft-anything from its source and git history. It parses every symbol, draws the dependency graph, scores each file's health from complexity, duplication, coverage and churn, finds hotspots and owners in the history, and writes documentation for every module. Your coding agent reads the same index over MCP, so its answers cite real files.
Prefer local? pip install repowise && repowise init indexes your own checkout, no account needed.
