Repowise / Qodo
Qodo alternative: Repowise vs Qodo
Decide whether you need a rules-driven AI reviewer that mines your PR history, or an index-first bot that starts from deterministic repository evidence.
Qodo is the stronger fit when you want enforced review standards learned from your own PR history, on GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket or Azure DevOps. The repowise PR bot starts from the dependency graph and git history, comments without a model by default, and adds AI review as an option.

01 / Category framing
What each product is built to do.
- Repowise
- A persistent codebase-intelligence layer that combines structure, git history, decisions, code health, generated documentation, and MCP retrieval for both people and coding agents.
- Qodo
- Parallel review agents that check correctness, standards, architecture and risk, with a judge agent that merges and filters findings before they reach the pull request.
02 / Overlap and difference
Where the workflows meet, and where they diverge.
Genuine overlap
- Both look beyond the diff: Qodo reviews the whole repository and flags blast radius, repowise scores blast radius from its dependency graph.
- Both can be tuned to stay quiet: Qodo with severity thresholds and a judge agent, repowise with Signals mode.
- Starting point
- Qodo runs several review agents per pull request and enforces rules it mines from past reviews. The repowise PR bot posts graph and git-history signals first, and the same index serves documentation, health and agent context outside the PR.
- Operating model
- Qodo is SaaS on Pro Team, with single-tenant SaaS and on-prem or air-gapped deployment on Enterprise. repowise is open source under AGPL-3.0 and self-hostable, or hosted.
- Evidence boundary
- No controlled head-to-head benchmark is claimed on this page. Product descriptions come from the linked primary documentation.

| Buying question | Repowise | Qodo | Boundary |
|---|---|---|---|
| How does a review work? | The PR bot scores each change from the diff, the dependency graph and git history. Signals mode uses no model and stays quiet unless a threshold is crossed. AI review, optional on Pro, adds a model pass on every pull request that changes code, with a deep review when risk calls for it. | Several agents run in parallel (correctness, standards, architecture, risk). A judge agent merges findings, removes duplicates and drops low-confidence ones, then posts them ranked by severity. | Qodo's judge step is built to cut noise from its own agents. |
| Rules and standards | Health, change-risk and documentation-drift gates you can switch on, plus a recorded decision history from the repository. | Review Standards built from your codebase, PR history and requirements, and a Rule Miner that turns recurring patterns into enforced rules. | Learned, enforceable rules are a Qodo strength. |
| Git hosts | GitHub through the repowise GitHub app; GitLab CI gates through a template. | Bitbucket, GitHub, GitLab and Azure DevOps on the pricing page; Gerrit on Enterprise. | Qodo covers more hosts. |
| Context beyond the diff | A persistent index: dependency graph, git history, hotspots, ownership, code health and decisions, browsable outside the PR. | Full-repository analysis, blast radius and cross-repository review, plus requirement-gap and Figma UX checks. | Qodo's requirement and design checks have no repowise equivalent. |
| Coding agents | MCP server with 10 tools (answers, search, context, symbols, rationale, risk, health), usable from Claude Code, Cursor, Claude.ai and other MCP clients. | Git and IDE integrations and pre-PR review skills on Pro Team. | Check how Qodo exposes review context to your own agent. |
| Where it runs | Open source under AGPL-3.0 and self-hostable, or hosted at repowise.dev. | Pro Team is SaaS. Single-tenant SaaS and on-prem or air-gapped are Enterprise; Qodo says it does not train models on customer code. | Confirm terms with the vendor. |
| Price | Free for public repositories (git analysis on the last 500 commits). Pro $15/month, Teams $20/seat/month. Self-hosting is free. | Pro Team starts at $30 a month for a 2,500-credit pool shared by a team of up to 30 users (about 18 reviews; 5,000 credits for $60 is about 36; 20,000 for $240 is about 144), $0.012 a credit, with a 14-day trial. Overage is billed at the same credit rate up to a cap you set. No permanent free tier; free program for qualified open source. Enterprise is custom. | From qodo.ai/pricing on the verification date. The $30 is the price of the credit pack, not a per-user fee. |

One result you can check
Qodo mines rules from past reviews; repowise records the decisions behind the code. On 29 October 2026, its public index of fastapi/fastapi lists 64 architectural decisions mined from commit history, code comments and documentation, none of them written as a separate document. We did not run Qodo on fastapi for this page.

Choose Repowise when...
- You want a free deterministic comment on every pull request before any model runs.
- You want the same repository evidence available to coding agents over MCP.
Honest trade-off
Choose Qodo when...
- You want enforced review standards and a Rule Miner that learns from your PR history.
- You review on Bitbucket, Azure DevOps or Gerrit, which the repowise bot does not cover.
06 / Verification notes
What this brief does not claim.
- No controlled head-to-head performance or quality result is claimed between these products.
- Competitor capabilities, packaging, deployment terms, and prices can change after the verification date.
- A product-category comparison is not a security, compliance, procurement, or legal assessment.
- Repowise evidence links show current product output; they are demonstrations, not proof that every repository will produce the same findings.

Questions
What people ask before they try it.
What is the best Qodo alternative?
For another LLM reviewer, CodeRabbit and Greptile are the usual comparisons. repowise is the alternative when you want a free deterministic comment first, from the dependency graph and git history, with AI review as an option.
Is Qodo free?
Qodo's pricing page says it has no permanent free tier. Pro Team has a 14-day trial, and qualified open source projects can apply for free access. The repowise PR bot is free on public repositories in Signals mode.
How much does Qodo cost?
As of October 29, 2026, Pro Team starts at $30 a month for a 2,500-credit pool shared by a team of up to 30 users, which Qodo says is about 18 reviews; larger packs are $60 and $240. The price is per pack, not per user. Enterprise is custom.
Can I self-host Qodo?
On-prem and air-gapped deployment, and single-tenant SaaS, are Enterprise options. Pro Team does not include them. repowise is open source under AGPL-3.0 and can be self-hosted at no license cost.
Can I use Qodo and repowise together?
Yes. Qodo can enforce learned review rules while the repowise bot posts graph and history signals, and its index feeds coding agents over MCP.
